Excel Activity: (number sense) recognizing quantities without counting and random flash cards This Excel file includes activities to build number sense. The first sheet allows a student to practice recognizing "how many" items. The maximum number of items can be chosen and then the computer will randomly create any number between 1 and the max. The goal is to recognize without counting. The max can be chosen between 1 and 10. There is also a sheet which will generate flash cards. The user chooses add, subtract, multiply or divide; whether to use negatives or fractions, etc. The user will click on the link and then save this file to the desktop (or other easy to find location). Then double click to run. Press the F9 (refresh) key to make a new problem or set of objects. |
|
Excel Activity: (Addition by making 5 or making 10) Students will try to visually move counters into groups of five or ten to determine the sums for random addition problems. The F9 key will create new random problems in Excel. Worksheets can be printed or the students can work directly from Excel. SMART Board teaching file for this lesson. |
